OK, if you can't stuff the entire content into set_server_id for
later disentangling you'll have to go for the not-yet-released source
with the ability to call an ACL from an expansion. I don't know
of any reason why ACL code called from an authenticator shouldn't
set global variables but it'd be good to get a positive confirmation.
