Use macros to make it more readable:
DOMAIN_QUERY = ${lookup pgsql{SELECT * FROM domains WHERE name =
'${quote_pgsql:$domain}'}}
DOMAIN_ID = ${extract{id}{DOMAIN_QUERY}}
DOMAIN_NAME = ${extract{name}{DOMAIN_QUERY}}
