One last thing:

I guess it's obvious what I've actually wanted to do:
Namely kind of binary pattern matching, where "nothing"[0] (well at least not
any of the different end-of-line characters (CR,LF or the unicodes) or
char-sequences are specially interpreted,.. but I could look for them.

So basically people are looking for kinda binarygrep (just google around, I'm
not the only one missing this).


So when this was possible to some extent with PCRE (and in this very case that
means i.e. matching the end-of-line as (a) character(s)) it would be great if
it could be documented,... unless I just oversaw it again.
