Yes some are spam. We get daily Facebook crap when none of the users
have ever been on Facebook. We block them in ACL SMTP Connection.
Facebook sends its emails to our tertiary (third level) MX bypassing our
primary and secondary MX.

Ebay and Paypal send unrequested emails which are blocked too (they use
standard senders email addresses). Linked-in and Google Plus are routed
to :blackhole:

Its world wide and controlled by just a few individuals. Amazing how
many small business users having a mail server and home users computers
are compromised. They seem to use M$.

We recently introduced a forth level MX (127.0.0.1) for a massively
spammed three letter domain name. Now spam attempts have almost
disappeared for that domain.

Most normal people have no time or inclination to read through waffles
and waffles of unnecessary emails especially when the senders, usually
major USA and Chinese companies, don't offer the opportunity to remove
email addresses from their lists. IP blocking or Exim disposal are the
answers.
