An old one, 2.3.6; no distribution, its the custom version on a NAS (ARM
processor).

The only usual problem with this old libc is having to use
-fgnu89-inline all the time to avoid macro errors.

Yes it fixes it, and yes it requires CC="gcc -fgnu89-inline -std=gnu99"
