PCRE_PRERELEASE is not a string but bare characters. This one was a bug
introduced by me, and you're apparently the first person to build against a
PCRE pre-release since I added that code a couple of versions back.
I believe I've fixed this in HEAD -- I'll attach the diff in a moment, for you
to try.
