    Add protocol=smtps support to smtp transport.


    Permits SSL-on-connect for outbound connections.


    Heavily based on Simon Arlott's patch, but with enough modifications to
    risk new bugs.


    nb: am on a plane, change confirmed to compile on MacOS, nothing more
