patch as promised in subject
The patch to appendfile.c still applies, the patch to spec.txt fails. (This is
not important, as I understand that the spec.txt is generated anyway.)
However, I'll append a fresh diff against 4.76 (appendfile.c and spec.txt, in
case somebody already want's to test it.)
We have this in production for about 2 months now.
