Ok, thanks for that confirmation. I upgraded to latest version I could find and it's working:

[root@localhost ~]# echo teST |/bin/grep -iP '\Qtest\E'
teST
[root@localhost ~]# /bin/grep --version
GNU grep 2.6.3
