Was a known bug (at least in Red Hat) as of 2007 (bugzilla 248289).
Either Centos haven't picked up the fix (unlikely), or you're
running with a modified exim.conf and rpm (or yum) is refusing
to overwrite your mods.

Are you sure the exim server accepted-then-bounced, and not the
Outlook making it look like that? Check the actual bounce messge
in detail (is it a real mail message coming from the exim box?).
