AFAICS nothing to be done at your end.

Exim does not ordinarily prefer other than the published primary. So long as it
IS up.

But that is not what happened here.

'dog any relay.rzone.de' finds only an A RR. There is also a proper PTR RR.

One presumes Exim used all it could find - an A RR falback when *NO* MX was found.


'dig mx rzone.de' finds a primary MX only - no secondary.

And thst primary MX claims to be for 'rzohe.de' not 'rzone.de'

'h' vs 'n'

So Exim was doing the best it could, and the admin at the other end needs to
sort his system(s) and DNS RR's.

Or block use of an invalid address no one can reach...
