We use a Python daemon we wrote in 1993 or so. It's still working for us,
but it's ancient, and fairly resource-intensive and likely not worth
posting. MySQL backend so our multiple servers have access. (At our loading,
the resource usage is tolerable.)

I'll certainly look through the Wiki after Ted's collection seems done.
