Just to add to what Peter said already:

If you have any concerns, get involved. Rather than sitting back and
moaning about your perception of what's going on, get involved. Don't
spread FUD - get involved.

As you might gather, what Exim needs now is for people to *support it*.
All Open Source projects need input - in many different ways.

Unfortunately, times change - Philip Hazel retired, and those who have
contributed since have not had the luxury of an employer with the
understanding which Cambridge University demonstrated, where Philip
could work on Exim as part of his day job.

However, as others have pointed out - Exim is stable and mature, so
ongoing maintenance hasn't required a great deal of work (everything
which has happened since is in the Changelog or CVS logs). This means
that bug fixing and ongoing maintenance is a necessarily quiet and slow
process.

Ongoing development - towards Exim 5, for example - is a different thing
entirely. Despite repeated requests over the years for all levels of
Exim user to contribute ideas and suggestions as well as time and code,
relatively little has been forthcoming.

That's the reality - so the big question is:

What are YOU (generic "you") going to do to help?
