Maybe something like this:

    dnslookup:
        driver = dnslookup
        domains = …
        condition = ${run{dig +short mx $domain \
                     + some logic to detect the server failure}{true}{false}}
        …


BUT I'd say the following looks cleaner.

    dnslookup:
        driver = dnslookup
        domains = …
        …
        pass_on_timeout


    dns_had_timeout:
        driver = manual
        domains = …



But „timeout“ is probably != „server failure“. There is one other
relevant option „host_find_failed“, but according the specs it does not
apply to server failures.
