[pcre-dev] Performance of compilation

Hello,
My name is Yaron and I need to know how expensive is the compile stage of PCRE. Is it much more than a match operation (considering a relatively simple pattern and an input of up to 1024 characters)? Does it cost more when using UTF-8 and not ASCII characters?
