That Wikipedia article is inaccurate. I remember folks in Scunthorpe
being similarly disadvantaged in the early days of the amateur radio
packet network, which must have been the mid 1980s, which pre-dates
the AOL version of the problem. If I could be bothered to work out
how, I'd go and fix it.
