Autor: Eli Sand Data: A: exim-users Assumpte: [exim] Looking for a simpler replacement to SA
I have been in the process of setting up a new server for myself which
includes mail services, and as I was installing packages, I went to install
SpamAssassin and noticed just how many package dependencies it has (mostly
in Perl - but then some of those have deps as well, etc...). It's a rather
disgusting list tbh - especially since I like my servers to be clean and
simple.
Anyways, so I thought it would be nice to look in to removing my SA
requirement and replace it with something else. I haven't really been "in
the loop" with the latest anti-spam projects available, but I looked at
dspam briefly and it seemed like a potential candidate since it's a simple
self contained package. I'm sure the use of dspam has been discussed many
times on list though - and this isn't (yet) a discussion specifically about
using dspam, but rather a broader question...
Figuring that I *must* keep anti-spam checking available at SMTP time via
ACLs (like the spamd integration offers in Exim currently), what good
anti-spam suites are there that I could replace SA with? I realize that
this would likely require patch(es) to Exim so that new ACL commands are
made available, but in my searching I haven't been able to really find much
(my searches return a mess of various info).
Is there anything really available? As for requirements, right now I just
want ACL compatibility and equal or greater anti-spam detection to that of
SA. Auto-learning is a bonus, and my setup is entirely virtual, so if
there's any learning features that can/must be used (as is the case with
dspam) it must support virtual setups with SQL.
