No response from original bug filer and there's no reason to believe that this
isn't a case of missing a UTF-8 setting.
However, before closing the bug ...
With the move towards IDN email based upon Unicode and the broad variety of
charsets out there, should UTF-8 be made the default and users be expected to
explicitly set a more restrictive charset if they so want? Otherwise, at
*best*, random spam will cause internal errors because of charset conversion
errors.
