Michael,

You would be correct, but the modusgate doesn't handle all outside
communications. It only handles the incoming connections for those that have
paid for the extra spam filtering. Some domains receive no filtration.

From what you have said, it sounds like this modusgate thing is set as
your MX host, it handles all communication to the outside world and then
forwards mail to your internal server if it is clean. If that is the
case, how does enabling vrfy on your internal server increase your exposure?
