The migration of PAM into LDAP shouldn't concern you. PAM is for
*authentication*, not for obtaining user information and mail routing
issues.
If you want to route/accept/reject/... mails based on the LDAP directory
you should have a solid knowledge about LDAP (servers, binding,
searchbase, filters, ...). Understanding the ldapsearch(1) utility helps
a lot in creating proper ldap queries.
Then it's easy going to integrate ldap into your exim configuration,
the part about query style (ldap) lookups should be sufficient.

Yes. In newer exim versions (4.69) the section number is a bit
different.
