Just a small notice:
According to the reporter the bug even appears connecting to freenet.
As far as I can see, freenet.de uses exim (4.69) as incoming SMTP server.
I'd assume that there shouldn't be problems talking to these servers.
I think it's some indication of a "hidden/transparent" SMTP proxy between the
sending and receiving side. (Have seen already some strange effects with gdata
antivirus gateways, ciscos smtp fixups, ...)
