Thanks for your advice, I have made those edits to the patch file and it has a
different error now:
[bcast@localhost pcre-7.6]$ patch configure configure.patch
patching file configure
Hunk #1 succeeded at 312 with fuzz 2 (offset 252 lines).
Hunk #2 succeeded at 20333 with fuzz 2 (offset 20051 lines).
Hunk #3 FAILED at 20366.
Hunk #4 FAILED at 20571.
2 out of 4 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file configure.rej
How can I be certain of which lines have line feeds before the end of the line?
as I'm not sure if there are more, I can't identify them.
