Thanks for your posts, I went straight to your second one.
I must admit, I've never used patch before but I read the man pages and started
to use it.
For some reason, it doesn't like line number 48 of the patch:
[root@localhost pcre-7.6]# patch configure ./configure.patch
patching file configure
Hunk #1 succeeded at 57 with fuzz 2 (offset -3 lines).
patch: **** malformed patch at line 48: # so it's easy to change back to
'regular' autoconf vars if we needed to.
What operating system did you to a diff on to get this output?
I'm on Red Hat Fedora 5. The version of patch I have is 2.5.4
and the version of diff I have is 2.8.1
