This is what we do, and it's quite satisfactory. It works the same for
Exchange and any other kind of SMTP server (of which we have several), and
it doesn't require any special relationship with the destination server
beyond what is needed to deliver email, e.g. no extra hole in the firewall
for LDAP. This is an advantage for us because the Computing Service has
little control over what departments and colleges may decide to do.
