Of course, they should be using port 587, but that's not universally
available yet.

However, there are plenty of virtual domains with outbound email routed
through servers which aren't apparently related. For example, at this
University all outbound email is routed through IP addresses which belong
in the sussex.ac.uk domain. However, we host a number of academic units and
collaborative projects with apparently unrelated domain names.
