Subject: [exim] Exim creates mail if connections is dropped from client?
Hello,

I'm currently experiencing strange things (using Exim 4.63), exim is
creating empty mails:

We have some unreliable connection between some server and our "main"
server, sometimes the connection is dropped (at least it's that's what I
think).

I tried to simulate a session using netcat.

    nc ssl.schlittermann.de smtp
    EHLO vpn.is.schlittermann.de
    ..
    MAIL FROM:<siering@???>
    ..
    RCPT TO:<hs@???>
    ..
    DATA

    ^C

And on the server side an empty mail was created.
I expected that exim insists on the trailing dot or at least recognises
the dropped connection and stops processing this mail.

Please, could somebody (or anybody?) tell me, where my thinking is
wrong?

Thank you.

    Best regards from Dresden
