I'm about to go to a Techlink seminar for the rest of the afternoon).
Solaris 8 had no /dev/random or /dev/urandom by default. You can get round this
by installing the SUNrand package (Google for it) or installing patch number
112438 (available through Sunsolve). Oh, that's assuming we're talking Sparc
Solaris here.
I'd advise applying that patch and seeing if that helps.
