It didn't happen by accident, someone who knew what they were doing
wrote it like that.

You've proved something about your installation of Exim. You didn't
get to test mine, so you didn't prove anything about that one - or
anybody else's in all probability.

You either have a config problem, or your expectations and/or
understanding of what Exim does is wrong. If you stop ranting about
bugs and ask sensible questions, you might get some help with it.

Most people with any sense don't stumble across configs, they write
them from a position of knowledge about what they need, and how to
achieve that using the tools at hand. If they need help, they ask.

You seem to have a different approach.

As you've been told a few times already, the null sender is am
important part of SMTP, and you shouldn't mess with it.
