Assunto: [exim] OT(?): 1und1 (Kundenserver) using unusable Envelope-From?
Hello,

is there anybody out, who could confirm that the German ISP 1und1 uses
quite useless sender addresses for relaying mails from its customers to
outside world?

E.g.:

2006-11-20 16:14:11 1GmAqP-0003rO-3w \
    <= SRS0=zmI/=FA=arnold.schlittermann.de=arnold@??? \
    H=moutng.kundenserver.de [212.227.126.171] \
    P=esmtp S=1216 id=20061120151358.GD11857@???
2006-11-20 16:14:12 1GmAqP-0003rO-3w \
    => arnold@??? \
    R=amavis T=amavis H=eth1.tigger.schlittermann.de [212.80.235.129]
2006-11-20 16:14:12 1GmAqP-0003rO-3w \
    Completed

If now I'm testing this sender address:

pu:~# swaks -f '<>' -t SRS0=zmI/=FA=arnold.schlittermann.de=arnold@??? -q RCPT
=== Trying mx01.kundenserver.de:25...
=== Connected to mx01.kundenserver.de.
<- 220 mx-b.kundenserver.de (mxeu12) Welcome to Nemesis ESMTP server
-> EHLO pu.schlittermann.de
<- 250-mxeu12.kundenserver.de pleased to meet you
<- 250-PIPELINING
<- 250-8BITMIME
<- 250-SIZE 52428800
<- 250 HELP
-> MAIL FROM:<>
<- 250 mail from: <> ok
-> RCPT TO:<SRS0=zmI/=FA=arnold.schlittermann.de=arnold@???>
<** 550 <SRS0=zmI/=FA=arnold.schlittermann.de=arnold@???>: invalid address
-> QUIT
<- 221 mx-b.kundenserver.de Bye

Despite the fact that it breaks sender callout there will arise other
problems if my exim (on pu) runs into some delivery error after
accepting the mail (could be full mailbox...). Where to return the
bounce???

Is here some of the Nemesis developers reading?

Or could please somebody tell my that I'm totally stupid and wrong or
that I missed some important point?

    Best regards from Dresden
