You need to push back on this, hard! Is there any way you can justify
using a piece of security critical software which has been unmaintained
in any way for 4.5 years? Would you consider using Sendmail v5? Using
Exim 3 passed the "unwise" stage a couple of years back, its now just
insane.

Additionally you are forced into doing accept-and-bounce scanning - that
got old a good while back too.

Exim 3 can listen on any port, but AFAIR it can only listen on one at a
time - so the standard config for this sort of thing is to have the spam
scanner re-inject using BSMTP or run multiple daemons.
