Update to this
Just to confirm I have stopped exim using the method described below and
am still able to send mail
Why would the invoke-rc.d exim stop break when the equivalent start command
is fine
I don't really understand this invoke-rc.d command I found it in a how to
and it worked
Is this more likely a problem in another part of the system or is it exim ?
