True, but eveything's relative - I have >1 year uptime on the box I
use for exactly that purpose. And the fallback is to apply a set of
settings which work in the locality you're in at the time - something
you could easily script.

Again, it's all relative. I too have a bunch of associates who have
relay accounts - can't remember the last time I had to go anywhere
near that particular table to add/remove/update ....
