[exim] eximstats failed causing server to be slow?

For some reason my server will get really slow and pages will drag horribly.
Then I will receive an e-mail saying eximstats failed. I am running my
server on a redhat linux box. How could I check to see why exim failed and
if it is the cause of the server dragging?
