As Patrick says, you need to add +mm_domains to your local_domains list,
which will tell Exim to accept email from remote machines to your Mailman,
and not to try sending your Mailman email to some remote machine.
(The error you saw was a result of Exim trying to do the latter and
failing, because its configuration was inconsistent with the DNS.)
