I'm not sure that we're exactly on the same page here. I'm doing:
exim -d -bhc 70.85.30.6
I don't see any "running as a daemon" line in my output and I suspect that
the reason is that this instance of Exim is not running as a daemon. From
what you have said, I suspect that you have something else in mind. At the
risk of revealing my ignorance, would you mind telling me what YOU think I
should be doing? Thanks.
