I'd vote for feature ;-)
Just try:
exim -be '${quote_local_part: hans}'
exim -be '${quote_local_part:hans}'
exim -be '${quote_local_part: hans <hans@???>}'
exim -be '${quote_local_part:hans <hans@???>}'
Quote_local_part has to believe that the whitespace following the :
is already part of the local part. How should it know that it's not?
