Your directory are readable from group mail, but I can't know what the
permission of the files are...
On my Server, I have:
[lucabert@ns lucabert]$ id clamav
uid=12347(clamav) gid=12347(clamav) groups=12347(clamav)
and:
[lucabert@ns lucabert]$ ls -la /var/spool/exim/
total 19

In my configure I wrote:
deny message = This message contains malware ($malware_name)
malware = *
without the demime (it's deprecated!)...
I use clam on port 3310 of localhost (no Unix-Socket).
