Incorrect wording by me (forgot the word "yet" at the end). The meaning of defer
was already clear to me.

I think you should "Although the message is deferred, the pipe command will be
executed regardless of the transport filter's exit code because all commands are
executed in parallel."

You should add that one, too:
"Transport filters are not supposed to fail."
