The problem has been resolved, thanks to David Baines.
Apparently sweep now has a -mime option which will allow it to find viruses
hiding in MIME attachments. Unfortunately, this is not on by default, and Sophos
haven't documented the option in the man page (RTFM isn't the universal solution
it could be).
So, the problem is solved. Sweep can locate viruses in messages using the
malware option, and it no longer needs the demime option.
