hi fred,

|
| it already is! :-/

|...
| which is partly why still getting the '550-Admin prohib' is so frustrating

well, it simply is. :-S

    % exim -bP | grep smtp_return_error_details
        smtp_return_error_details

been doing lots of that ...

ain't that the truth.

> The evidence seems to show that you're not talking to the exim config you think you are

make a change to my config's banner, reHUP, and send a msg, noting the banner:

-1344204904[1b06f30]: SMTP Response: 220 mail.testdomain.com FRED_IS_A_SKEPTIC ESMTP Mon, 10 Oct
2005 13:27:54 -0700

nope. that's not it ... ;-)

none in place for the internal network ...

nope.

only one exim to connect to ...

once you spot it.

well, it's always true that you find things in the last place you look for them 8-}

probly good next step ...

it worked!

wtf? rinse, repeat, try again ... thrash around.

<flame> *&^%*& *&^%())* *&^$^ )(*& )^* </flame>

aha! the problem's Thunderbird. i just realized i tried *THIS* time with the latest beta TBird
version.

v107 (release or nightly) does NOT work.

simply upgrading to Thunderbird v15b2 cures the problem.

argh!!

well, ok. anyway, good to know.

that said, it still does not explain why i'm getting *just* "550 Admin prohibition" w/
smtp_return_error_details set.

btw, thx 4 your help/guidance in this <flame> %**&%@!!!!! </flame> fire-drill!

jeesh ... time for a walk. :-/
