I would look at ident causing problems. The default ident (from memory) is
30 seconds. You can turn ident off with the following:
rfc1413_query_timeout=0s

Thanks, but not that, I don't think (dns lookup in <1s - see below).
(Sorry for removing domain name, it seemed irrelevant as delays on a number
of
domains, but point taken.)
