Hello,
Just picking up on an old thread. Rebuilding the Fedora exim-4.52-1 RPM
I started to get the warnings again about 'ignoring return value' etc.
However, building exim from the source tarball, again under FC4, gave no
warnings.
FC4 uses GCC version 4, and it seems that when rebuilding from RPMS it
uses the following gcc options:
-O2 -g -pipe -Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -m32 -march=i386
-mtune=pentium4 -fpie

It seems that '-Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2' will do it (at least with gcc
4). Setting it to '0' will turn it off. More info is at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2004-09/msg02055.html
