[exim] Will this deny statement work?

Hi

We use Exim 4.44 . Will this deny statement work in my configuration?

deny   hosts    = +deny_hosts_file

I want to create a list of IP's to deny mail from without having to go
through spamd and RBL checks. If it does work, is there a disadvantage to
doing this?
