[exim] sending mail with exim

To whom it may concern,
I need help figuring out how to send mail properly using exim. I either
need a quick fix or reference to a true-newbies guide to exim. I have
installed debian and exim according the the Debian Linux Bible, however
I lack basic operating instruction on how to send mail.

I am guessing at this point that the command line argument is 'exim
(someemail@???)' and that you type in a few l;ines and send
it with ctrl-d. This is the extent of my operating knowledge here and
all the manuals on the net seem to skip this part of the discussion and
launch into higher level discussions.

I have tried 2 different email adresses and both ended up returning an
error email message into var/spool/mail complaining
'unroutable domain name aol.com'
and 'unroutable domain name klickitat.yi.org'
