[exim] odd spamd error, people say it's an exim bug

does anyone have any idea how to determine what the problem is here?
it creates a whole bunch of [exim defunct] messages just sit there as
processess and people start getting bounceback messages.

anyone else having these same issues with spam assassin / exim latest version.
