I am using option (b) at one site and it works great. This is on Fedora Core2
rather than a mac but the principles are the same. In the past I was forced
to use sendmail but I still did the delivery using LMTP; but that was over a
socket. However I have not noticed and major difference delivering over a local
port rather than a socket. In short, cyrus has been pretty reliable as a
delivery agent for me.
