[exim] question about exim mail file format

What scripting tools are available for mail stored in "exim spool" format
(one file for headers and one for the body).

I basically have a large archive of mail in this format and would like to
parse it and move parts of it to a SQL database.

Basically I don't really know what this format is even referred to as to
search for info on it further.
