Autore: Greg Folkert Data: To: EximUser List Oggetto: [exim] Possibility of accepting...
Well, there are many fast and furious thoughts going on about how best
to handle Debian's "Predicament".
I for one would like to see changes to the documentation that are made
by the Debian Exim Maintainers, at least in a subsection or appendix
type of form in spec.txt.
Yes, this would mean someone actually doing the work. Also though it
would mean Upstream would need to accept the changes to make things
better.
I mean if everyone is complaining about how to best deal with this,
while Debian is definitely trying to, users by default use the Exim
Users list when experiencing problems with the "Debian Way", this would
be a good thing, you could point them to this location on exim's site
with links directly to the Debian Resources as well.
Then perhaps, once you all read through the "Debian Way" Appendix, you
might look at it and see why many many people prefer and actually use
exim this way.
Either way, the docs would then be online at Exim's website and then the
mirrors that follow spec.txt would be also hosting the info. Far far
reducing the amount of pestering Debian (L)users sending annoying mail
here.
So, the question then becomes, are you game?
If not, why not? You have nothing to lose, but gain time and peace or at
least some semblance.
