Hi,
I'm still occasionally seeing the following panic in our Exim 4.43 logs:
2005-01-27 20:56:48 failed to open /usr/local/adm/exim/localdomains when checking "localhost : /usr/local/adm/exim/localdomains": Too many open files
We're running under Solaris 8 with rlim_fd_cur/rlim_fd_max set to 1024,
on a slightly loaded system that processes about 200,000 deliveries per
day. The output of "ulimit -n" for all users is indeed 1024, and the
output of "plimit -k" on the master exim process shows nofiles=2048
(why it shows 2048 instead of 1024 I don't know).
I'm at a total loss why this error would keep continuing to occur, and
it does it on four of our Sun systems running Exim.
