[exim] Too many open files error?

Hi,

I'm occasionally seeing the following error in our Exim 4.43 logs:

2005-01-27 20:56:48 failed to open /usr/local/adm/exim/localdomains when checking "localhost : /usr/local/adm/exim/localdomains": Too many open files

Now, we're running under Solaris 8 with rlim_fd_cur/rlim_fd_max set to 1024,
on a only-slightly loaded system, so I'm surprised to be seeing this.

I see that Exim tries to up the rlim stuff to 1000 file descriptors, but
I'm surprised to see this error.

Any thoughts?
